Ladies' Book Club

We are a very casual group - some people come every time, and others are more intermittent. Usually there are a few people who haven't finished the book, still enjoying the discussion and fellowship (so no pressure - just come!).

There is no expectation to attend JCC to participate in this group! About 3 or 4 times a year, Cindy recommends a book, or someone else will suggest a title that we all agree on. Although there is usually a spiritual theme, the books are not necessarily "Christian".

We all contribute to a pot luck dinner and enjoy a glass of wine while a lively discussion and laughter ensue.

Some of the books we've read recently include:

  • The Map of Salt and Stars - Jennifer Zeynab Joukhadar
  • Same Kind of Different as Me - Ron Hall Denver Moor
  • Born a Crime - Trevor Noah
  • A Million Miles in a Thousand Years - David Miller
  • The Red Tent - Anita Diamant

  • Zoom? We shall see!
  • Tech millionaire Miles Cookson has more money than he can ever spend, and everything he could dream of—except time. He has recently been diagnosed with a terminal illness, and there is a fifty percent chance that it can be passed on to the next generation. For Miles, this means taking a long hard look at his past . . .

Two decades ago, a young, struggling Miles was a sperm donor. Somewhere out there, he has kids—nine of them. And they might be about to inherit both the good and the bad from him—maybe his fortune, or maybe something much worse
